Genital Warts Symptoms: What To Look For When You Think You Have Them

in Genital Warts

So, you had a sexual encounter in which a.) you weren’t as safe as you should have been or b.) shit just happens and now you are wondering if these bumps on your skin are something a little bit more serious than just bumps.

Now while this may sound dire, not all HPV strains show symptoms, and while there are actually more than 100 subtypes of HPV only about 30 of them specifically affect the genitals and show up through genital warts.

I’m sure your head is spinning, you’re feeling nervous, and are a little scared to hear the truth of what you may have, but here’s the thing: genital warts are one of the most common STDs out there these days.

In fact, it has been stated that 50% of the sexually active population will have come into contact with HPV, within their lifetime.

So what should you be looking for in genital warts symptoms? Well, keep reading because we are about to break it all down for you.

Genital Warts Symptoms

When one has contracted genital warts they usually notice small pink, white, and sometimes grey lumps, or even larger cauliflower-shaped lumps on or around their genital area.

And while it can vary case by case, usually these warts appear on or around the penis, scrotum, anus, or even thighs on men. As for women, well, they usually notice lumps around their vulva, inside their vagina, or even on their cervix which may cause some bleeding or, very rarely, an off-coloured vaginal discharge.

You may expect to see clusters of warts, but sometimes they can appear singly, making them hard to spot and confusing some sufferers as they are expecting a big outbreak. However, in severe cases it is possible for genital warts to spread to your anus area, even if you have never had anal sex.

Luckily, genital warts are usually painless, but they can get a little itchy in certain cases.

It should also be mentioned that occasionally some people can confuse other skin problems with genital warts. This can scare a lot of people because they mistake perfectly normal, and non-infectious, skin lumps and bumps for genital warts symptoms.

So what lumps and bumps are NOT caused by genital warts?

Skin Conditions That May Be Mistaken For Genital Warts

Fortunately, not all skin lumps and bumps are as severe as genital warts, or even require genital warts treatments, and some may not even be contagious. So how do you tell them apart? Well, it is usually best to check with your doctor or visit a sexual health clinic, as they will be able to tell you with absolute certainty what skin condition you have, but common mistakes are usually centered around:

Pearly penile papules

These are small white, or skin coloured bumps that can appear in a ring around the edge of the head of the penis. And while they usually occur in men, they can be spotted, more rarely, on women around their vulva.

These spots are usually bright red or purple in colour and can look a little like blood blisters.

Sebaceous glands

Also commonly referred to as Fordyce spots, these little bumps are usually hard and have a white, yellowish, or even skin tone colour to them and can be found all over the skin of the penis and scrotum, or the vulva in women, and even on areas such as our lips.

And while they may sound scary, these glands actually produce a substance called sebum which helps to keep your skin healthy.

Pimples and spots

It’s actually quite common for pimples or skin spots to show up around our genital area, just like they do on our face. And while they may feel sore or look inflamed, they are relatively harmless.

What Should I Do About My Genital Warts Symptoms?

If you have read through our list, and still think you may have genital warts then it is probably best you go see a doctor or book an appointment at a sexual health clinic so you can find out for sure if you have contracted genital warts.

However, if you would rather try and deal with your symptoms discreetly then you may want to consider doing some research on Wartamine, one of the most popular at-home genital warts treatments.

Whichever way you decide to deal with your situation, just make sure you take action so you can start adjusting your lifestyle to living and dealing with genital warts.

Now we want to hear from you. Do you think you might have genital warts, or have you been living with them for some time now? Share your thoughts, experiences, questions, or even advice in the comment section below. If discretion is important to you, you don’t have to list your name and no one can see your email address. It is important for us to share our experiences and our feelings with each other as we each try to navigate this new stage in our lives. So don’t be shy, speak up!

I have this small hard white bump on the top of the head of my penis. It’s kinda sensitive to the touch. It doesn’t hurt or anything but it does itch from time to time. I haven’t tried popping it just because I don’t want to spread it and make matters worsen for myself. Im not sure but I think it’s a wart. Iv had 2 warts only penile daft as I was a younger boy (not being sexually active) at the age of 15. Im i did have about 7 warts onboth hands at the time and I did masturbate alot so I’m guessing that’s how I got them in the past. Now I’m not sure why I have had this outbreak of 1 little wart on my penis head. Iv had anal intercourse in which I was recieving but my penis was untouched and we used protection. + it was only 1 time. My gf has a wart on her arm I’m not sure but I’m thinking somehow I accidentally rubbedmy penis obit and contracted the wart virus. Let me know what you think of my situation. Thank you.

admin September 26, 2012 at 2:22 am

Hey John,

Unlikely that you picked up an STD from your GF’s arm wart as they would be totally different strains.

It’s also hard to tell what you have so I would suggest getting a test done to confirm what’s really going on.

If you want to keep it discrete I recommend checking out GetSTDTested. You can read all about how it works via that link.

Whatever the case may be, try to stay calm and remember these things happen and there’s always a way to deal with any situation.

Best of luck!

Sandra September 27, 2012 at 10:57 am

Hi I have genital warts in my vagina, I don’t remember how long I got it, but I became sexually active for more than 2 years now. I saw my boyfriend has it, but was never sure if its a wart also, until last week. Now I’m getting afraid, when I found out that it was an STD. So i researched for pictures of it just to be sure and found out that mine looks same as the pictures shown in the internet. Now, I ordered Wartamine, I am on my second day now. It is stingy, and painful and it looks like the warts got swollen. Should I still continue using it? I’m so desperate, I don’t want to go to the doctor. On my first day I put wartamine every 3 hours, is it ok? Coz I’ve read some saying that they put only once or twice a day. Did I put too much that is why the feeling is like this? yeah, its turning white now, but as Ive said it looks swollen. I feel uncomfortable, especially at work. I want to remove this warts as soon as possible, but worried because of the pain that it might not be good for me.. Please I need your advise. thank u

admin September 27, 2012 at 7:51 pm

Hey Sandra,

Twice a day is recommended. The tea tree oil and apply cider vinegar is likely to cause irritation, so try and stick to the twice a day recommendation and stay patient.

The white coloration is a good sign as it means the solution is working. What I would recommend is contacting and asking them about the swelling to make sure that’s a normal side effect.

They should be able to give you the best advice when it comes to dealing with that type of problem.

The important thing is to stay calm as stress will only result in further inflammation.

winnie January 6, 2013 at 3:40 pm

I am worried if I might have warts, and I am not sure what is the caused of it either there was the day I cleaned it with olay body wash soap which was a 1st, because I wanted to keep it clean, or my bf wanted to have oral sex on me but he never had oral sex before it is a new experience for him. but it looks like pink bumps just forming around like an outer ring. i don’t touch it just rinse with water once everyday hoping good hygiene will help calm it down. but im so worried it could be something serious, sometimes it becomes itchy a little but i don’t scratch because i so scared of it spreading

admin January 6, 2013 at 10:03 pm

Hey Winnie,

Sorry to hear this! You might want to get checked out by your nearest sexual health practitioner or even order the at-home test called (we have linked it in the sidebar) so that you can know for sure what you’re dealing with.

Hope that helps!

basil white March 8, 2013 at 2:19 am

Hi my names Basil and I just turned 17 and I have a couple of bumps on my scrotum and I was hoping its just a puberty thing but when I was around eleven I had unprotected sex one time and didn’t think to much about it because didn’t really knw what sex or anything like this was but now I’m kinda scared that I might have genital warts can you please help me out I really hope I don’t I’ve look it up and some sites say it could be swelling from the sperm build up I’m not entirely sure and I did masturbate a lot but I’ve really slowed down on that in case that was the problem but I’m not sure I could really use some helpful advice thanks.

admin March 8, 2013 at 5:12 am

Hey Basil,

Thanks for getting in touch. To be honest, I think you should go see your local sex health practitioner or your doctor and get tested so you know for sure…otherwise you will drive yourself crazy wondering whether or not you do have something :)

Alternatively, you could check out the home STD tests…we have a banner for one we really like on our sidebar.

I hope that helps somewhat :-)

mishti March 11, 2013 at 7:40 pm

Hi my name is mishti I don’t knw if dis are warts or just normal bumps but I askd a medical student friend of mine and he said they are allergies from a ferminine intimate wash so I discontinued using it 4 more than a week naw and these bumps are still dere I v a huge cluster of the close to my anus and some in my vigina coz I can feel it with my hands but they don’t hurt, burn or itch it looks like the discriptions of warts but then I can’t say. And am afraid of seeing a doctor please help me

admin March 11, 2013 at 7:45 pm

Hey Mishti,

Thanks for getting in touch. I really think you need to see a doctor. You don’t have to go to your regular doctor but consider going to see someone at your nearest sexual health clinic…after all, you need answers and treatment if you do have something.

If you really really don’t want to go to a doctor then you should try the at-home STD test…we’ve linked it on the right-hand sidebar, right under where it says “Not sure? Get tested now”

That could be worth giving it a shot.

Hope that helps you somewhat :-)

admin March 13, 2013 at 2:16 pm

Hey Adam,

Thanks for getting in touch. If I were you I would go to my nearest sexual health clinic and get tested to find out for sure what it is. That way you can ease your mind and treat it, if possible.

If you don’t want to go somewhere local you can always try the at-home STD test…we’ve linked it on the right hand side of the page in the sidebar.

I hope that helps :-)

t March 22, 2013 at 12:49 am

I made out with someone exactly one week ago, and now Im finding on my upper lip a small grouping of tiny white bumps (blisters?, maybe even tiny pimples?)… They dont hurt, burn, or tingle, and are very hard to see unless you get up very close to my ;lips and are looking for them. Any idea what these might be? Do I have reason to be concerned. Also, FYI, the person I made out with did not have any clear signs of having any sores such as herpes, or cuts on their lips. Do I need to be worried about any STD infection from this activity, such as HIV, Warts, Herpes, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, or Chlamydia? Thanks!!

admin March 22, 2013 at 4:43 am

Hey T, if anything you may have contracted Type 1 herpes which are basically coldsores. Type one cannot turn into genital herpes which is “Type 2″ herpes.

The only way to contract genital herpes (99.9% of the time at least) is through direct sexual interaction. Making out is fine.

Scott July 25, 2013 at 8:59 pm

I have the same thing on my mouth. A stripper put her nipples in my mouth and 1 day later i experienced burning and little white clusters appeared on my mouth. It has been 2 months and the doctor says its not herpes. What else could it be?

admin August 7, 2013 at 7:14 am

By that description it sounds like non genital herpes. What else did the doctor say?

Laura May March 22, 2013 at 2:22 pm

Hi im only 16 and im NOT sexually active bt i have exactly what ye described as genittal warts of my vagina , What should i do could it be anything else or could i have got the warts anyway with out being sexuallly active

admin March 22, 2013 at 2:44 pm

Hey Laura,

If you aren’t sexually active I highly doubt that what you’re experiencing is in fact genital warts. Do you have a doctor you can trust that you could talk to? It may just be a bacterial infection that’s gotten a little out of hand or could even be ingrown hairs. I think it would be best if you could speak with a doctor so you can know for 100% certain what it is you’re dealing with :)

Margarita March 23, 2013 at 4:05 pm

Hi, i just started seein a new partner, we have had sex once. I recently found something just outside of my private area. It sort of hung off, was fleshy coloured but only small and just one. I went to my local GUM clinic, the doctor looked at it and said he wasn’t sure if it was a skin tag or a wart but froze it off anyway. That was a week ago and it has gone now (I didn’t have sex with my boyfriend after the first time because I found this). When I was washing I noticed some small fleshy lumps inside my vulva, I got worried and went to see my GP. She said they don’t look like warts and my be a slight trauma because of my new partner and I hadn’t had sex for about 9 months before this time. But I’m so scared now to have sex, even though she says it’s not warts, because the doctor at the GUM clinic didn’t 100% know if it was a skin tag or wart, I’m still very nervous! Help!

admin March 24, 2013 at 4:57 am

Hey Margarita, are you able to be honest with your boyfriend and ask him if he has ever had similar symptoms in the past? Otherwise your best option in my opinion is to have yourself tested either at your clinic, or a more anonymous way would be through

Ultimately you just need to find out what’s going on so you can move on. Just do whatever it takes to get the test done.

Anonymous April 3, 2013 at 11:07 pm

URGENT! PLEASE HELP! Hi, I’m a female and I’m 18 years old, I suspect that I might have genital warts, but I’m hoping and praying, almost crying, that I do not. I’m going to be very descriptive because I really want all possible causes to be noted. My boyfriend fingered me very wildly one night, he also placed his finger up my anal for like a few seconds, he then continued to finger me normally afterwards. When he left I went to urinate and it felt a bit funny downstairs, but I ignored it because I just thought it was a result of how wild he was. The day after that though, he came to me again, that’s when he saw that around the opening to my vagina was white edging, that made me worried, but I thought it was a yeast infection because I’ve had that once in the past and its said that it usually comes back so I applied an ointment that I got for yeast infection, medaspor clotramizole cream or something like that, and the next day the whiteness was gone. However, my vagina still felt funny and a little itchy, I felt it and I felt odd bumps around the opening to my vagina, I started googling what it could possibly be, and genital warts keeps popping up. I don’t understand though I could possibly have that if my only sexual partner is my boyfriend, and I am his, that I am 100% sure of, we don’t ever have sex, mostly foreplay and he doesn’t have warts on his hand or anywhere for that matter. HELP! I’m stressed because I cannot go to the doctor, my parents will kill me if they found out.

admin April 6, 2013 at 6:52 pm

Okay first things first, you need to stay calm. Chances are it may not be anything, however it is possible that you may have warts. It’s almost impossible for me to tell based off that description so you need to immediately see your doctor to have it clarified. Most GP’s can tell immediately when they genital warts, however it is also a good idea to have some tests done to ensure it is not the case.

lailani May 3, 2013 at 4:55 am

Did u ever find out what it was? I also have similar things as your description. Shuch as the bumpy white lining of the vagina opening. Please I would like to know if I have something serious to worry about…

Rai61 April 5, 2013 at 7:54 pm

I have very small but alot of tiny white, a bit skin colored bumps on my lips which you have shown in the picture right beside the “Sebaceous glands” ,
They are really really small and from distance it seems like white layers on my upper lips but when look closely and stretch my upper lips ,they are many small white bumps which are spread on most of the part of my upper lips and more at the corner of the upper lips, I am worried because i haven’t noticed it before having protect vaginal sex & Unprotected Oral sex 4 days ago, do i need to worry about it?? are they any of the STDs or HIV/AIDS Viruses .
Can i do something to prevent it or make it less ??
Thank you so much

admin April 6, 2013 at 6:56 pm

Hey Rai, for starters you cannot get genital herpes on your mouth, so it’s more likely you’re suffering from a common cold sore. Cold sores are a different type of herpes to genital herpes and cannot be caught from oral sex, however kissing someone on the lips can result in you obtaining the virus.

Rai61 April 5, 2013 at 7:55 pm

AND just forgot to mention i am having a kind of dry mouth and very dry lips all the time from couple of days !!

Anonymous April 8, 2013 at 5:55 am

So a few weeks ago i noticed a few bumps under my penis towards the bottom of the shaft. I suspected they were shaving bumps cause i keep it hair free down there. I noticed they were a little itchy and freaked out. I went online and alot of pictures of genital warts popped up and it sorta and sorta didnt look like it. I got so scared i picked it off and it started to bleed. (BAD IDEA i know) so I went to the doctor and he told me they didnt look like genital warts and not to worry. The bumps went away for a few weeks and now i find myself seeing them again! I am worried he made a mistake. The bumps are in relatively the same are but arent bit. They are too small to even be hair follicles so i know its not from shaving. I did the vinegar test and it didnt turn white…should i be worried again?

admin April 11, 2013 at 1:05 pm

It’s unlikely you have genital warts by that description. The only I thing I can recommend is that you try using some Wartamine on the problem area and see what happens. Sometimes vinegar isn’t strong enough to cause a reaction, which is why you should consider trying something stronger.

Tina April 12, 2013 at 6:50 am

So I noticed a bump on the on my vulva no where close to my vagina. It itches when I mess with it and I noticed another bump. They are flat and skin colored. I’m going to the doctor tomorrow but I’m sick to my stomach thinking of what it is. I think it’s HPV and I’m so scared!!

admin April 12, 2013 at 7:05 am

Hey Tina,

This is the most important thing I’m going to say so listen up. You MUST stay calm! You don’t even know what it is right now so bring down the anxiety a little. If you do find out that it is genital warts, again you MUST stay calm! There are ways to treat this problem so life can go on just as normal. Anxiety is the last thing you want to experience because that will only inflame the situation.

Stay calm and do the necessary things to resolve the problem and remember there are always people to lean on, including us :-)

Brandon April 14, 2013 at 9:34 pm

i recently have found small bumps on the base of my penis. i have had one partner for the past 8 months.3 days ago i went to my dr. and he said it was warts. He also said it was nothing to worry about and that they are very common. they are very small and very few in number. i am using condylox gel and valacyclovir for treatment. the instructions say use twice a day for 3 days then take 4 days off. She does not have any warts that are visible and im am sure she has hpv since we have been having regular unprotected sex for 7 months now. She has been by side this whole time. My question is: On the 4 days off can i have sex with my partner? and if we both have HPV and she is not showing any symptoms do the warts matter/ or will they transfer causing us both to have them? I asked my Dr. if i could still have sex and he told me sure. but when i read online everyone is so panicked saying STOP.

admin April 23, 2013 at 9:41 am

Hey Brandon,

Remember there are 40 types of HPV and only 2 of those usually lead to genital warts. It is possible that she has contracted a different type of HPV and therefore I recommend she be tested accordingly.

There’s no point in waiting it out, just get the test done and find out where she’s at.

Anonymous April 16, 2013 at 2:48 am

My boyfriend of two years had genital warts show up. He told me only yesterday but said that he noticed them 6 to 8 months ago. He said he wasn’t concerned about it (thought they were something else) until he noticed they were getting larger very recently. Is it possible that he’s had the HPV infection for these couple of years, and that it just hasn’t manifested itself until 6 months ago? I’m sure you can see where I’m concerned… Also, I’ve had no symptoms, but should I see my doctor?

Thank you for your response.

admin April 23, 2013 at 9:33 am

There is the possibility you may not contract genital warts, but you should certainly get yourself tested for HPV. Remember there are over 40 different types of HPV and only 90% of people who are affected actually see symptoms of genital warts. Types 6 and 11 also count for 90% of all cases of genital warts. Get the test done and find out where you’re at right now and remember to stay calm no matter what happens. HPV is extremely common and can be treated.

Sandreen April 24, 2013 at 1:56 pm

Hi, my husband had genital warts and he read an article that it might affect his semen, please advise.

admin April 25, 2013 at 7:41 am

Hey Sandreen, I’m glad you brought this up. Genital warts have been known to block sperm passage. More so from the scarring that occurs in severe outbreaks. It’s not a common side effect but yes it can happen. You can read more on that here –

Gia April 24, 2013 at 10:44 pm

I have big itchy bumps in and on my vagina I’ve scratched them so much they’ve turned into cuts and it burns when i pee. I was recently diagnosed with BV could my meds or something be causing this because judged by the pictures they don’t look anything like herpes

admin April 25, 2013 at 7:45 am

It depends on what meds you’re taking? Flagyl for example can cause a rash to occur in some people. If that’s the case, it’s most likely due to an allergic reaction and you should ask your doctor for an alternative form of treatment.

scared April 25, 2013 at 8:41 am

I have bumps that hurt and itch and I have had only 1 sexual partner, my boyfriend for half a year. I had a miscarriage then had sex with him one more time about 3 months after and then these bumps popped up. I had one, it didn’t hurt that bad, then like 4 or 5 of them showed up on the lips of my vagina and one by my anus. What is it, I’m so scared!! I hope it is not herpes!!!

admin April 25, 2013 at 9:27 am

First of all as we always tell people, staying calm is the most important thing you can do right now. I know it’s easier said than done, but just remember that no matter what happens, there is always treatment available.

I can’t tell what then deal is based off your description, so I recommend you see your doctor and ask them to take a look at it immediately. If it does turn out to be an STD, then you start treatment. Keep in mind that everything is treatable and a normal life is not only possible but inevitable with the right treatment.

Stay calm, be strong and get diagnosed.

Lesly April 27, 2013 at 11:45 pm

am 20 yrs, i have never had sex before (penetration) but i do make out with my BF. It has been 3 months since we last made out… At a point i my groin stated ichyng and now i feel there is samthing growing insyde my clit…. I can feel the lamp with m finger, its lyk its almost coming out and i just discoverd it a week ago…. Am more than just scared…. I dont know wot it is…will it block mi virgina or samthing???? Please please help me!

admin April 29, 2013 at 11:17 am

Okay so as we always say, the first thing to do is stay calm and remember that these things are treatable. There’s no way of diagnosing genital warts based off the description you gave us, but what I will say is that it’s very unlikely it will cause the type of blockage you did describe. We recommend you do go and see your doctor to determine what it is, but it would be hard to believe you have contracted HPV without sexual penetration.

Nervous April 29, 2013 at 10:45 am

Hi. Ive been sexually active for a couple years now and have slept with 7 guys and am now in a very serious relationship and very happy. Ive noticed though that I have these small white bumps grew on my pubic area. Theyre small and only a couple of them. They dont itch or anything, they’re just there. But its freaking me out because the thought that i might have herpes scares me. But I also think they could be like an ingrown or something wrong with my follicules, maybe could also be a wart. Idk. Im going to planned parent hood to get checked but Im so scared.

admin April 29, 2013 at 11:21 am

It doesn’t sound like symptoms of genital warts. If you do shave in that area, there is a strong possibility of infection due to ingrown hairs.

You have two choices:

1. You ask your boyfriend if he has ever tested positive to genital herpes or genital warts.
2. If you would prefer to keep it a secret, you should stop all sexual activity until you have yourself tested.

Whatever you do, don’t do nothing.

Nervous April 29, 2013 at 11:27 am

Thank you. You have eased my mind.

admin April 29, 2013 at 11:29 am

Lily April 30, 2013 at 5:20 pm

Hey, I recently had sexual intercourse about couple days ago! & I’m freaking out because on top of my vaginal area itches & I do notice one bump that looks like a pimple on the base of my vaginal area. I was told by my doctor was explaining that it was something females catch when there vagina isn’t use to a different partner and when I’m guessing it was a infection! But I told her I was itchy on my vaginal area and was subscribed with (FLUCONAZOLE 150MG TABLET) But its weird because before I even went into the clinic I didn’t have no pimple looking thing on my vagina I was fine until I took the pill then as I was sleeping I started feeling itchy on top of my vagina and then I notice a bump I’m hoping & praying its not herpys. I’m keeping a positive mindset about it I’m calm not stressed about it! But just really curious on what it is? Could it be? If its a yeast infection could that be another symptom? I’m thinking threw this & reading! But I can’t seem to find the answer. I’m itchy on the top of my vaginal area sometimes but just the pimple looking thing is really got me questioning!? Please help!!!!

admin May 2, 2013 at 7:40 am

Hey Lily,

Occasionally anti fungal medication like FLUCONAZOLE can lead to the onset of a rash that may look like genital herpes. Although this is probably the most likely cause of the issue you are seeing right now, it may not be so I recommend you make another appointment with your doctor to get a check up.

julie May 2, 2013 at 2:43 pm

Hi iam having little hard bumps on the sourounding of my vagina when they get very
hard it became white and when i burst them very hard white stuff pops out and it goes
away but comes up another place.

admin May 5, 2013 at 8:46 am

Hey Julie, first up try to stay calm. There could be multiple possibilities for what you’re experiencing such as ingrown hair infections or potentially genital herpes if you are sexually active. Try not to think about the worst case scenario as in most situations, the issue is usually much less severe. See your doctor immediately and have him/her take a closer look.

Hi I had oral sex about a month and a bit ago and have noticed that I am itching all over my vagina and bum its more like i little tingle itch its not that bad that i have to scratch it i am so worried I have something. I also experience anxiety and it says that itching can be a symptom I’m hoping that is all please help.

admin May 5, 2013 at 8:41 am

Hey so the chances of getting an STD from oral sex is extremely low. It could be related to anxiety issues, but either way you should consult your doctor to make sure.

Teemo May 5, 2013 at 6:21 am

Hey, I’ve a lots of bumps on my scrotum with some of them growing hair. I never had any sexual intercourse before and I never masturbated in my life. I only fingered a girl and kissed her. So does that mean that I have genital warts?

admin May 5, 2013 at 8:43 am

Unlikely. 99% of the time you need to have sexual intercourse in order to contract an STD. It sounds like ingrown hairs from this end, which either way you should see a doctor about. That area of the body is prone to infection and you want to do everything you can to stop it in it’s tracks before it gets any worse.

princesshill May 7, 2013 at 5:05 pm

Thank you so much for the answer and for your dedication and help! Im so depressed, I was diagnosticated with Uti 1 month ago and they prescribed to me ciprofloxacin for 3 days and didnt work at the same time had bacterial vaginosis and they gave me metrodinazole and that worked for that, adtional they practiced a urinary culture test and before these results they gave me bactrim, I was feeling better but still low back pain and abdominal pain, the cukture test was negative, now still feeling the same pain and plus start 3 days ago with a lot of itching and burning I practice a uti test at home and the leucocytes are high, lastnight I was looking in my vagina and I saw like something red and like getting out when I push is not too big but thats what is itching and burning, i been using clotrimazole for 3 days thinking can be a candidiasis but didnt work still itching and burning and now Im so scared that can be a wart, I just has been sex with one person in my life and we are together for 6 years, can be possible that I have hpv now? Oh and I forgot to mention I had an ct, a pelvic ultrasound and a transvaginal ultrasound and they jist said I have a small ovarian cyst and gallbladder stones, Im just scared that I have cervical cancer because the pain…

admin May 11, 2013 at 7:30 am

I wish I could say I had a definite answer for you, but don’t and I think you should consult your doctor if you haven’t already. If you had your CT a while ago, you might want to consider having a followup done to ensure everything is okay in there.

Cervical cancer is a serious thing and therefore we don’t take it lightly and neither should you. Do what you need to do to get a diagnosis and then you can start dealing with the problem.

lisa May 9, 2013 at 4:55 pm

I have bumps in the back of my tongue and sometimes my top lip get swollen turns red and u could take benedryl and it will go down but I’m just wondering does this have anything to do withwith warts or herpes

admin May 11, 2013 at 7:26 am

Hey Lisa,

Definitely doesn’t have anything to do with a sexually transmitted disease. By that description is sounds like you have common mouth ulcers. Either way if it becomes too uncomfortable, you know what you gotta go – go see your doctor.

Chris May 10, 2013 at 5:23 pm

Is there a medication to prevent HVP from occurring? About three times a year I get a small patch of about 3 or 4 tiny Watery bubbles about 1 millimeter in diameter on my shaft. I pop them and they are painless and like I said.. It’s like they are just filled with water. Any way to prevent this?

admin May 11, 2013 at 7:23 am

Hey Chris, good point you bring up here. Try looking into PODOPHYLLUM. Some people in the past have seen improvements in terms of breakouts occurring less frequently. It may be what you’re after.

Haley May 10, 2013 at 8:12 pm

Hi ,
I have a round sorta inflamed bump . Its not on the outside of my vagina but in the skin on my lios . I dony kniw if its an STD or what . It doesn’t hurt and it only itches when I touch it . Coukd this be an STD ?

admin May 11, 2013 at 7:24 am

It could be an STD, but it could also be an ingrown hair based off that description. The only way to tell for sure, is to get the test done.

Andrew May 13, 2013 at 11:51 pm

I have what I think is genital warts. They are redish/whitish bumps/excess skin on the penis, the frenulum to be precise. They are not itchy or painful. I have had them for 2 weeks now, and am reluctant to go to the doctor at the moment. There have been small black dots on the warts, which i believe were blood cells, giving the warts oxygen.

I was wondering what advice you could give me as the next step or some possible treatment for them. Also, from the time I got the warts, I have had dry skin on my hands (probably seperate problems).

admin May 17, 2013 at 6:15 am

At this stage if you would prefer not to visit the doctor (and I still recommend you should) you might want to start your own treatment using a natural product like Wartamine. It may help alleviate some of the discomfort as it does have a pretty good track record.

Michael May 13, 2013 at 12:14 pm

Hey guys, so i was diagnosed with anal warts 4 months ago. I’m a straight male and my bum is an exit only so at first i was confused as to why they turned up there but i read that they can show up there even if ive never had any action in that area.

I’m a little concerned because ive been to the doc’s tons of time where he applies this red goopy stuff that burns the living hell out of my ass a couple days later.

what concerns me is that it seems as if the warts have gotten worse, they just keep growing and getting bigger. they’ve nearly totally blocked off my rectum and the worst part is that they bleed, itch and hurt like crazy. I’m at my wits end, i tried apple cider vinegar but that only seemed to make it worse too. Do i have anal cancer? why wont they go away? I take a multi-vitamin along with other supplements every day, i do smoke however im trying my best to quit… let me know what you think,

admin May 17, 2013 at 6:18 am

Hey Michael,

Did you ask what your doctor was using on your warts? If not I suggest you ask him and then do your own research into the treatment and possible alternatives. You may want to try a natural approach using Wartamine, which has been effective for some people in the past, however I cannot guarantee it will work. At this stage I think the best thing to do is be proactiv until you find a solution.

Here’s the link to buy Wartamine:

Andrew May 14, 2013 at 12:11 am

Also, I had unprotected sex about 5 months ago

Becca May 15, 2013 at 4:59 pm

so im pretty sure i have genital warts and im freaking out, i dont have any insurance so i cant afford to go to the doctor n im scared there gonna wanna remove them surgically because theyve started for inside my vagina as well as in between my …2 parts. n one around my bum. there small, but noticeable by me. i had a feeling when it started what they were and was hoping maybe theyd clear up on there own, but now that one or two have started forming inside me im pretty much loosing it and im tempted to try that wartimene but i dont know if i can put that where the bumps are inside me. is that safe does anyone know or have had this problem n did it help.?

admin May 17, 2013 at 6:11 am

Hey Becca, well for one thing I can say that Wartamine mention their product is safe for internal warts on their frequently asked questions page right here – It’s probably worth a shot at this point. But please if things don’t improve, figure out a way of seeing a doctor.

G May 15, 2013 at 5:23 pm

Hello, I found an internal lump at the side of my clitoris. It isn’t visible or painful it’s just really hard and inside the skin. Even if I squeeze the skin to try and see it come up there’s nothing to be seen. That one has now gone down in size but another one appeared on the inside of one of my vaginal flaps , I went to the doctor and he didnt seem to know what it was he just gave me some ‘Fucidin cream’. I don’t think it can be genital warts as I have not changed partners for over a year, and I need some help. My partner has also definitely not had sexual contact with anyone else. And these appeared over the last week

admin May 17, 2013 at 6:04 am

It’s hard to tell what it is without a visual, but some possibilities are it could be either an ingrown hair or a cyst. Both are treatable if this is the case. Next visit to your doctor ask him/her what their thoughts are on those two possibilities

ana May 17, 2013 at 12:09 am

hi umm okay I have noticed last week that I have a warts on top of my clit n more
like under my vagina they dont hurt or itch but I can feel them .. is it herps ? ive looked up on the internet n I dont understand because my past bf are not positive to heros or any stds.. how did I get it ? please help me ! email me or respond to this plz ! @

admin May 17, 2013 at 5:59 am

Hey Ana, first of all stay calm. Have you been to the doctor yet to get it checked out? If not, I suggest you do so. If you test positive for anything just know there is treatment out there that can help alleviate symptoms of both genital warts and herpes.

Ana May 17, 2013 at 9:27 am

but it’s it possible to get warts down there even if it’s not a
std ?

admin May 17, 2013 at 12:23 pm

Warts found on genitals are always going to be genital warts. Are you positive your last partners did not have genital warts?

Also you need to consult a doctor if you haven’t already.

Loop May 18, 2013 at 12:29 am

I Have Found One Spot Looking Thing Down Below. (I’m Female). It’s White, Like A Whitehead. It Doesn’t Hurt Or Itch But Im Worried Of What It Is :( I’ve Not Slept With Anyone In 4 Years But Still I’m Worried On What It Is…. As I Have A Bf Now And Scared To Sleep With Him, With That There.

admin May 21, 2013 at 10:21 am

If you shave in that region it is possible you have an ingrown hair and nothing more. If you haven’t had sexual contact in 4 years, it’s unlikely you have contracted a STD. If you want to clear up the infection right away, I suggest you ask your doctor to prescribe you some antibiotics. However if you have only noticed the problem in the last couple of days, it should heal up on it’s own.

Try having a salt bath (use 1 cup of salt) each day for the next 3 and see what happens.

I can't Say May 19, 2013 at 11:21 pm

I have not had sex in over a year and I’m developing what I think are warts or possibly skin tags. I do not know what is happening to me. Many sites I have read say the normally appear within months or weeks. Mine are showing up a year later to the date almost. Is it possible I have them or would I have known sooner?

admin May 21, 2013 at 10:17 am

I’m sure there is a possibility of warts showing up a year after initial contact. A few months after is more common obviously but certainly not a standard amount of time for everyone. The first step you should take if you haven’t already is to go see your doctor and speak to him/her about the issue. You could also try alleviating symptoms by using a serum like Wartamine. It may help control the problem, which is something I presume you would like to see happen sooner rather than later at this stage.

Mae May 20, 2013 at 8:19 pm

Family doctor said my warts were not sexually contagious lady gycniggost said they were my husband swears he has been faithful. Never had a reason to believe he was I still wonder only problem we ever had that could come to a closeur

cam May 21, 2013 at 8:11 am

hi how are you?i just want to ask about warts because i have 2 kids 7 and 6 years old and i am single mother and i have boy friend and i had sex to him and after a couple month i touch my vagina under my vagina have one small warts but i am not sure if warts because i doesn’t feel hurt or anything.pls.. and the penis of my bf is very big help me scared to ask to doctor.thank you

admin May 21, 2013 at 10:13 am

Okay so first step is to go see your doctor no matter what, or you can use a more anonymous service like There’s the chance you haven’t contracted a STD, remember that. Alternative problems could include an ingrown hair if you shave in that region or a common cyst which depending on the severity may need to be removed surgically. Most cysts just require a round of antibiotics to go away.

But either way you need to confirm if what you have is a STD or not, by using one of the two methods mentioned above.

John May 23, 2013 at 3:12 am

Hi, Im 18 year old male and I dont know if this is a wart or not but im going to describe it to you. I have a single bump about an inch above the base of my penis. It kind of looks cauliflower like and has a couple small white heads on top of it. Its not a big bump maybe a quarter inch probably smaller, and it doesnt hurt. I dont know what it is or how to remove it. Please help me!!!!

admin May 26, 2013 at 1:41 pm

By that description it does sound like genital warts. There’s two steps you can take right now:

1. Go confirm with your doctor that it is in fact genital warts.
2. Start applying a treatment like Wartamine to help bring down inflammation.

Lee Ann May 24, 2013 at 6:26 am

Ok…I have what looks like a skin tag on the lip of my vagina and it didn’t hurt or anything but now it’s hard and a lil red…also on the inside of my lips I have purple spots looks like a rash maybe but I recently just got them. Don’t itch hurt or anything. I’m too scared to go to the hospital…I’m so scared. Please help!

admin May 26, 2013 at 1:48 pm

Could be a simple rash but that description but I can’t say for sure. Most rashes occur due to a yeast infection superimposing with a bacterial infection. After seeing your doctor, it’s likely he/she will prescribe you with an anti-fungal cream, but you might want to double up with some Neosporin as well to help bring down the bacterial infection as well.

Jordan May 24, 2013 at 8:40 am

i noticed the other day that i have these bumps on my ass cheeks.. no where near my anus or vagina but just my cheeks… i dont know what to do about it? what cream should i use… it looks like heat bumps. HELP!

admin May 26, 2013 at 1:50 pm

Could be due to the clothes you wear rubbing on the small hair follicles found in that area. Not a serious issue, but you might want to consider having a couple of salt baths and keeping the area dry with some baby powder. If the problem persists you need to see a doctor to make sure it’s not anything more serious.

Angelica May 24, 2013 at 2:34 pm

A few days ago about 3-4 days after I had intercorse. I started feeling like this kinda pressure on my vagina and I notice on my painties there were these little white stuff which smelled a little, looking like oatmeal and so I was think maybe it’s nothing and it’s probably, but to be sure I did a personally check in my vagina and I felt a new opened like individual solid bumps separated bumps and it felt like second vagina hole. I also found more of that oatmeal stuff when I scraped the surface of the second hole and it was bleeding a little. It also itches time to time INSIDE the vagina. I don’t know if any of this makes sense, but I really want to know what’s going on down there. :/

admin May 26, 2013 at 1:52 pm

Sounds like a yeast infection of some sort. First things first, go confirm the issue with your doctor, then start treating it with an anti-fungal cream.

annah May 28, 2013 at 10:43 am

Hi how do you do?
Please help me !!!!! sm white or almost yellowish stuffs coming out from my vagina n scratching one day I saw light blood just sm drops n I don’t know what is that I worry a bit I had it after having sex with my bf I am 18 I can’t go to doctor I really can’t. I asked my bf about that he said he googled n he found out that I have lack of vitamin but it ismy right ?? Even in period I can feel that!!!!!! Please help me tell me what to do !!!

admin May 30, 2013 at 12:58 pm

Sounds like it could be a yeast infection. If that is the case (and yes that means you need to see a doctor) then treatment like Canesten may help alleviate symptoms.

Seeing blood appear may mean something more serious so please do the right thing and get a checkup.

teejay utley May 28, 2013 at 10:55 pm

Hi im 21 i have skin colored small bumps on one side of my shaft don’t hurt but feel dry,few are in clusters others spread out.have you heard of these please let me kno wat info you need

admin May 30, 2013 at 1:03 pm

Have you had sex recently? If so by that description it could be genital warts. Once you get that confirmed with your doctor, he/she will prescribe you something to help with symptoms. On the other hand, you could also try a natural approach using a treatment like Wartamine.

Aine May 29, 2013 at 1:58 pm

I am worried I might have given my boyfriend genital warts even though I show absolutely no symptoms or them, nor have I ever. Small skin-tag like bumps appear on his lower abdomen, in the general area friction might occur during intercourse due to stubble etc,

admin May 30, 2013 at 12:36 pm

Unlikely to be genital warts based on the location of symptoms. It’s more likely to be ingrown hairs based off your assumption of friction during intercourse. if it gets worse, tell him to get a checkup.

anonymous May 29, 2013 at 8:33 pm

Hi I have discovered some lumps around my vagina and a little further down, they were never painful but they are very itchy, I have been checked for sti and I have nothing so I am stuck I don’t know what it could be? Please advise? They have spread and it I try pick on them, they just bleed, also I found that they cause some vaginal discharge.. Help?

admin May 30, 2013 at 1:04 pm

It’s hard to determine an exact diagnosis based off those symptoms. When you had your STI test, did you ask your doctor what he/she thought it might be?

casey June 2, 2013 at 2:05 am

hi i recently found about a month ago these lumps in and around my vagina,it was strange but i thought its normal and would go away on its own but ever since more have been appearing its grey ,i wouldn’t say its irritating but the fact that i know its there makes it irritating ..i’ve had sex only once, unprotected and it was last year august if this is an std is it even possible for an outbreak to happen MONTHS after sexual intercourse? it freaks me out

admin June 3, 2013 at 5:56 am

Okay firstly by that description it’s hard to tell if you have contracted genital warts. It could in fact be a number of things, so now is not the time to stress. Symptoms do have the potential too appear usually anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months after intercourse. According to your description, that would be 8 months after initial contact. Check to see if what you have matches the image description on this page, then if it does I strongly suggest you get a checkup to confirm whether or not you have contracted an STD.

The good news is, there are a lot of treatment options available today and it’s more than possible to live a normal life without constant symptoms.

casey June 3, 2013 at 2:25 pm

it does match the description on the page except its not all together its spread out ,if it is there is no cure for it right? do i need to see my doctor or can i contact a gynecologist directly for check up?

porsh June 2, 2013 at 4:40 am

Ok. My husband has a dark colored “wart” looking deal right above his penis. He has always had it yet lately he says it hurts. it is a little bigger than a nickel. What could this be. I’ve looked up penile cancer, cysts and now this. I don’t believe its an STD as we have had 7 children and everytime they give me an STD test. Just putting this out there for some ideas…

admin June 3, 2013 at 9:45 am

Has your husband been tested? If not then I suggest you do so just so you can definitely rule out the chance of genital warts. Based on that description we aren’t qualified to say what it could be, so her will need to consult a GP.

Ashely June 3, 2013 at 12:53 am

Hi I am a 18 year old girl & I am sexually active. I had 7 sexual partners & I trusted all of them. With my last sexual partner I been concerned becuase I got a yeast infection which I never had before & my inner libia lips felt funny. I check them daily & becuase I am African America my color varies but my chicken skin libia is what has me concerned. I feel like I may have warts but I got a Pap smear about a month ago & was told everything was fine. Should I go get just a thoral examination or would the Doctor who did my Pap smear see that there was something wrong?

admin June 3, 2013 at 9:49 am

From that description it doesn’t sound like you have genital warts, but more likely further symptoms of the yeast infection you experienced. Did you do anything to treat the problem? If not then chances are it could have become worse over time. You need to see a doctor are ask him/her for a thorough checkup before treating the issue with prescribed medication.

Jane June 4, 2013 at 7:18 pm

I got close to my boyfriend a few months back, but we didn’t have sex. But I know that HPV can be transferred by skin contact too. After a while I found some kind of pink-ish bump down there but it disappeared after approximately 3 days. Now after almost 2 months I think it is back at the same place. I am 19 year old. It doesnt smell. It doesnt itch or hurt. And it has not multiplied. Please help me.

admin June 5, 2013 at 7:56 am

First things first, don’t stress as it could be a number of things, ie. a simple ingrown hair. If you did have direct skin to skin contact, it is possible to contract a STD. The most appropriate thing to do would be to go with your boyfriend and get the tests done.

It’s a good sign that your symptoms haven’t become worse, however I think think you need to go get a checkup as soon as possible.

Candace R June 5, 2013 at 9:08 am

Hi, okay so don’t just tell me to go to a doctor because I was there less than 6 months ago and I got a pap smear and everything, I didn’t get a call back and she said if she doesn’t call that’s a good thing! So phewf, but I just found out my boyfriend has been cheating on me. SO OVER IT. Douche… I had unprotected sex with him a few times because I thought well, I could trust him and I was on birth control… So recently he told me while we were having sex he saw genital warts on me… I was like WHAT!? I got tested, he said he could notice them… I was very lost and confused… I looked in the mirror with my legs open, I didn’t really notice any bumps, I wasn’t quite sure, my vagina was a pinkish grey? maybe weird. I don’t know…. So then I look closely at the lips and theres WHITE stuff, I was like okay lemmie try wipe them off, so I did! And they weren’t there anymore, I was like what? Okay… Sooo all in all I have a little itch but I think that’s from a UTI because I have lower abdominal pain too and ive had a few utis in the past…. Im not really itchy down there, once in a while yes but isn’t that a little normal? sometimes I feel a little uncomfortable down there but I think that’s because my lower clothing is really tight, ive had 2 sex partners in my life and the last time I had a pap smear was this year.. Im still very afraid does it sound like I could have them? why would my boyfriend only say this when we break up? I am a little worried because… well who wouldn’t be, please respond.

admin June 19, 2013 at 9:16 am

Hey Candace, genital warts are normally quite noticeable and it’s highly unlikely that they can be “wiped off”. All the signs are pointing to a common yeast infection. If the discharge is white this is likely to be the cause. It’s nothing to be too worried about, but you should definitely get some treatment for the issue. There’s a number of different options for you here: Vagistat and Monistat are two common products for yeast infections.

However, yes I am still going to have to tell you to consult your doctor to ensure the treatment you choose doesn’t affect any existing medical problems you may have.

April June 6, 2013 at 4:57 am

I have had unprotected sex with a few people (dumb I know). A while ago I had intercourse that was very painful and I was swollen down there for two days afterward. I went to the gyno and she believed it was a yeast infection so she took a culture and prescribed me a pill for it. The next day they called back to say my culture came back negative, which means it was something besides yeast, but because most of my itching was gone, I ignored it. Fast forward a month, I noticed a few bumps right to the side and underneath my vaginal opening. They are smooth, flesh-colored, and pretty small, although I notice them. They are a little itchy. I’m terrified they are warts but they don’t look like any genital wart pictures I’ve seen online. I can’t go back to the gyno because if I have an std, I don’t want my parents to know. I just don’t know what else this could be and I’m so scared ):

admin June 19, 2013 at 9:22 am

Okay so another alternative could be ingrown hairs. Our underwear can occasionally rub up against a hair follicle in that region, causing it to dig further into our skin. This then leads to infection that can normally heal up on it’s own, however if the issue is bad enough it can lead to a more severe cyst.

Two things:

1. Try having a salt bath once a day in the evening. Use about 1-2 cups of salt and make sure it dissolves fully into the water. Stay in the bath for about 20 minutes at a time.
2. If the problem still persists, then you need to bite the bullet and see your gyno.

sidney b June 7, 2013 at 11:22 pm

So a few days ago i found a small whitish bump on the outside of the vagina. It doesn’t hurt but its smaller than a pea and there is only one. I get checked every year, i have been with my bf for a year n a half, so last year i got checked for stds everything came out fine except they found bacterial vaginosis which they gave me antobiotics for. I found the bump after my period and i was wearing a panty liner for a lot of that past week. I was wondering if i couldve gotten a bump from my period or the panty liner? and if i was checked and got negative results and have only been with one person, what are the chances that they might have missed it or that i might have genital warts?

admin June 19, 2013 at 9:25 am

By that description it doesn’t sound like genital warts. That description sounds more like an infection caused by an in grown hair. If this is the case, one thing you might want to try is to take a 20 minute salt bath at the end of each day. If after a few days, the issue still remains then you may want to have further tests done.

Jayson June 10, 2013 at 8:40 am

Hi, i can see very small what looks like little pimples on the underside of my penis under my head only when I stretch the skin or am erect & if you’re looking at it in an angle can you see them. When I’m flaccid you can not see anything. I do have fordyce spots on my penis & testicles which I know is normal. I do know about pearly penile paupiles which are usually around the ring of the head, but have read that it can be on the shaft too. Or can these be sweat glands, or even more fordyce spots? They look nothing like genital warts from everything I’ve seen.
I don’t even remember how I noticed them, they don’t hurt, burn, itch, I don’t even know there their unless I literally stretch the skin of my penis or am erect & look at an angle. Can I please have your thoughts?

admin June 19, 2013 at 9:31 am

Okay by that description it doesn’t sound like you have genital warts. Pimples and ingrown hairs are commonly mistaken for more serious issues like genital warts and herpes. If these bumps aren’t painful, then you have nothing to worry about.

Johnny June 12, 2013 at 3:50 pm

Hi, I’m curious if I have genital warts. There small in size, white, and cluttered like coliflower. However unlike most people mine appears on my pubis mun. What medication works best to rid myself of this virus. Can I still have sex without spreading the disease

admin June 19, 2013 at 9:38 am

Okay so first of all from this point on it’s all about management. You have a few options. Firstly if you want to try out something more natural, you might want to consider giving Wartamine a try. You might want to use Wartamine for management purposes after treat your warts with a more prescription like Condylox or Aldara.

It is possible to live a life without consistent break outs, however you really need to make sure you keep up with daily treatment.

Jeff June 14, 2013 at 9:53 pm

I’ve had one single wart on my lower penis where it meets the testicles. It’s not big and is the only one anywhere on my body. Does this mean I have gentile warts?

admin June 19, 2013 at 9:40 am

It doesn’t matter if you have one wart or many. If it exists on your genitals, it’s referred to as genital warts. You need to consult with your doctor to first confirm that what you have actually is a wart and not something different.

Vee June 16, 2013 at 3:03 am

I had sex unprotected and about a week later I saw a bump that then has turned into something that looks like a wart. I also had a wart some months ago but it was on my armpit! The one on my armpit is gone. ..but now there is this genital one. Do I just have a wartie body? Or are these two different things? The one on my armpit was definitely a wart. And now its disappeared.

I am afraid I may have genital warts and im trying to stay calm.
Just in case I applied ACV to it.
The thought of spreading it to my partner makes me very nervous!!

admin June 19, 2013 at 9:41 am

Genital warts and regular warts are two totally separate conditions. If you haven’t seen your doctor yet, I recommend you do so.

admin June 19, 2013 at 9:43 am

It sounds like you have a serious infection now that needs to be treated with antibiotics. Go straight to your doctor and do something about this issue before it becomes any worse.

Chandel June 26, 2013 at 1:59 am

Hi, I have a little bump on the outside of my flap down the bottom. I picked it last night and it bleed just wondering what it could be ? It goes smaller and bigger and sometimes goes away… Help please!

admin June 26, 2013 at 8:17 am

The first question I have is are you sexually active?

If so then there is a chance it could be an STD like genital warts or herpes. However it could also mean it’s a simple pimple or ingrown hair. The only way to confirm is to have the test done. You can do so either through your own doctor or through a more anonymous service like

Andrea June 26, 2013 at 4:37 am

Hello is it normal to have small white bumps in the inner part of your outer lips?(between the outer and inner lips) i have lots of them and they are small and look normal to me…

admin June 26, 2013 at 8:20 am

There’s always the possibility of them being genital warts or herpes. However if there’s no pain or irritation involved, it’s more likely to be something less severe. See this article for more details –

Clsre June 29, 2013 at 2:48 pm

I currently have genital warts around my anus, which I plan on getting removed at my local STI clinic. Is there a certain amount of time to wait before I can have sex again? And if it takes more than one session to remove, is it still okay to have vaginal sex? Assuming my partner has the same strain I do. Thanks!

admin July 1, 2013 at 8:30 am

Healing after this kind of surgery normally take 2-3 weeks. After 2-3 days you can start continuing normal activity. But you might want to refrain from intercourse for at least 2 weeks, just to allow your body to heal completely.

Shine June 30, 2013 at 4:54 am

I had sex the second day I started seeing bumps around my penis one of them bust they don’t hurt but lil itching at night I had penic hillin shot and antibiotics they are very small

admin July 1, 2013 at 8:26 am

Genital warts don’t normally show up 2 days after the initial infection, so it sounds like something else? It’s possible you have genital herpes instead. Did you ask your doctor about it?

Dusty June 30, 2013 at 1:00 pm

Yes I have these bumps. They look like a cross between skin tags and warts on my pubic area and alittle on my penis. The first time Ipicked at one they started bleeding. I get tested for STDs every 6 months. But the results keep comin back clean. Wat do u suggest.

admin July 1, 2013 at 8:25 am

So you were tested while you showed these symptoms and the results came back negative? I find that very hard to believe. What did you doctor say they were if not genital warts?

Susan July 1, 2013 at 2:01 am

I have noticed a flesh coloured growth on my inner labia. It’s the same texture , feel and colour as the rest of my labia. As my inner lips stick out it somtimes rubs on my underwear and this is the only discomfort I feel. It is soft to the touch and I can move it around. I’ve looked up warts and it does fit what I’ve seen, there is only one, I have not been sexually active for over a year. Have recently taken penacillin after having a virus, this then caused thursh which has just cleared up.
Just wondering if you are able to provide some insight.

admin July 1, 2013 at 8:23 am

If you haven’t had sex in over a year and it just started appearing, it may not be genital warts. Symptoms of genital warts usually show up within 3 months after the initial infection. In the very rare case, they have been known to show up a year after initial contact.

Therefore I would check with your doctor to help confirm that what you have isn’t something more serious.

daniel July 3, 2013 at 2:51 am

Hey,i had a concern i have a lookin type of wart not really sure but looks like a couliiflower and i got like four of them under my penis head but there tiny and i have been sex with my girl about two years and i have been her only one and shes been my only one can you please till me what this is , do i have genital warts please answer.?

admin July 7, 2013 at 11:01 am

Okay so by that description it sounds like genital warts, however it’s strange that they would only now start to appear 2 years after initial exposure. Have you consulted your doctor because he/she could easily confirm what the condition is just by taking a quick look?

Doug July 3, 2013 at 7:01 pm

Ten days ago, I had protected sex with an escort. It may have lasted five minutes. On the eighth day, I noticed a red lump where the scrotum meets the thigh. I have had no burning or itching and am wondering if this could be herpes. There is no puss or water coming out, so I don’t know if it is a blister or a pimple.

admin July 7, 2013 at 11:03 am

That specific area is susceptible to ingrown hairs and other forms of cysts. However due to your recent sexual activity, there is still a chance of it being an STI. You doctor should be able to confirm what the condition is just by taking a quick look, so I recommend you setup an appointment.

Nate July 4, 2013 at 7:49 pm

Hi I have a cauliflower soft shapes thing on the shaft of my penis. The color is grayish/dark. Could this be anything else other than warts? Are there any other symptoms similar visibly to warts? Oh also if I do have this certain HPV if I sex with a person would they get the exact HPV with warts and all?

admin July 7, 2013 at 11:11 am

There are over 40 different types of HPV and occasionally someone infected with one type can cause the recipient to become infected with another type. However the strains that cause genital warts are highly contagious so there is a large risk of transferring the same type over to your partner.

In saying that, treatment can help reduce symptoms making it less likely to transfer the virus from one person to another. I can’t however recommend that you knowingly have sex with someone without telling them of your condition. Right now I recommend on finding a suitable treatment for your warts before you think about your future sex life.

Danielle July 7, 2013 at 8:53 am

I feel like I have genital warts but I am not sure. I have been getting these little red bumps in my pubic hair area, and they itch really bad sometimes. I will occasionally get larger bumps but they don’t itch, they kind of hurt. I don’t have any bumps in my vigina or anything. I have been using cortisone cream for the itching and it seems to be helping a little bit. I just don’t know what I have, and I am scared to go to the doctor !

admin July 7, 2013 at 11:16 am

By that description it doesn’t sound like genital warts. What’s more likely is that you’re suffering from ingrown hairs that can cause infection that leads to a burning or itching sensation. Try having a salt bath (1-2 cups of salt) twice daily for a week to see if that helps to clear up the infection. Also go out and buy some baby powder and apply it after your baths to help keep that area as dry as possible.

The only other alternative could be genital herpes, but that of course depends on the recent sexual activity. Have you had unprotected sex of late with anyone you don’t know too well? If you notice no improvement in your symptoms after a week of salt baths, then I would recommend setting up an appointment with your doctor.

anon July 8, 2013 at 11:10 pm

Around a month ago i saw one little bump at the very top of the opening of my vagina but i thought nothing of it until around a week ago when i saw that there was now 3. I went to the doctor and she said it was warts, she said that there was some more little bumps further down in my vagina. But she didnt do a huge amount of looking. With the past few days, i have been treating them with tea tree oil and Aldara cream, and when i looked today, i couldnt really see anything besides the first 3 bumps which are more in my pubic hair then my vagina. Is it possible that she made a mistake and its something else? Should i get a second opinion?

Also if they are warts, i have read that in the majority of cases your body will suppress the virus after a year or so and then it isnt contagious anymore. is this true? thanks for your help.

admin July 25, 2013 at 8:48 am

Hey Anon,

I recommend you get a blood test at this stage which will confirm whether or not you have genital warts.

You can never rid yourself completely of them, but yes they can become less contagious when not in a state of flare up.

Baz July 10, 2013 at 12:09 pm

Hello there, since i was the age of 15 i have always had these little tiny white spots around the ridge of my penis. They are many soft but gain texture at a certain spot… Im 27 now and have never heard of them or thought anything of it untill i started hearing peoples stories… if i were to run my finger over some of them they look like little tiny skin tags really close togather…. Best way i cant describe it is say…. If you were to let your tongue go dry and look in a mirror, you would be able to see a similar effect with the flesh oh the tongue on top if you were to run your finger over it … It looks the same.

Now they do not hurt at all but i am to be married to my fiance from romany when she becomes a citizen here in the uk…. I want to find out what they are before we wed….i dont want to worry her… anytime i have had sex it has always been protected…. but i hate the look of it… the rest of my penis is perfectly healthy and are not anywhere else but hiding in the ridge of the head of my penis… what are they?

admin July 25, 2013 at 8:50 am

If they’ve existed prior to sexual activity, then chances are you don’t have an STD. What’s more likely is they’re pimples or pustules that commonly show up in that region.

If you really want to be sure, I recommend you have the test done.

sarahfarah July 11, 2013 at 7:09 pm

I recently noticed a line of wart like bumps along both sides of my labia minora near the opening of my vagina.
they are skin/red in colour and are in a straight line…
I thought it could be cronic thrush so i have done a 7 day treatment however the bumps have not gone.
I had a full test in january and have been with the same partner since then and we both came up negative for everything. Not sure if genital warts is scanned on that and if unactive comes up as negative?
Im not sure what to do as i am worried my boyfriend will think i have cheated.
Ive googled it like a maniac and cant get to a gum clinic until next week due to me being abroad! im loosing sleep and worried it could be warts or worse!

admin July 25, 2013 at 8:53 am

The only other possibility based on that description are ingrown hairs which are common in that area. Genital warts can start out as skin colored however, so there still is that possibility.

If you haven’t had sex with anyone else other than your boyfriend and he hasn’t had sex with anyone recently, then it’s unlikely you have an STI.

Whatever the condition is, worry and stress will only make it worse. Go and see a doctor next chance you get and ask him/her to confirm what the issue is by actually taking a look.

beth July 12, 2013 at 3:15 am

This is really embarrassing but I’m 12 and I am terrified that I may have herpes or gential warts. I have never had ANY sexual content with someone else. But I have been growing a 2 or 3 bumps in the pubic hair area but I have pop them and they healed. I also noticed in each one there is a ingrown hair. But recently there is a red bump on the inner labia area it only hurts when I touch it and I noticed yesterday. Also I have a bad habit of picking my pubic hair a lot. Please help

admin July 25, 2013 at 8:55 am

You are extremely unlikely to have contracted an STD. At that age, what’s more likely are either simple pimples or ingrown hair. If you do pick your pubic hair often, then you can be causing infection to occur. Therefore try your best to stop that as soon as possible.

I suggest you try taking a salt bath each day for a week to see if that clears up the infection. Use about 1-2 cups of salt in each bath and mix it until it is fully absorbed.

Mustafa Yildirim July 13, 2013 at 12:20 am

I am 33 years old and I have more than 10 warts under my penis since sircumsized when I was 8 years old.
I never thought they are really warts until 3 weeks ago.
I went my gp and doctor said they are skin tags.and he advised me to go sexual health clinic.
I went there straight away from gp after examined by them, been told they are actually warts. I was so worried but they frozen them and in a week they fell off and went back second week for check ,they still growing and very small to re freeze them.i been given a cream calls :” ALDARA” I read online forums about this cream and majority of people who have similar problem don’t really recommending this as there is more than one side effects. Well I still used it once so far and I couodnt see much difference I know have to use it 3 times a week and complete it in a month 12 sessions.i am so scared what actually gonna happen if this “aldara” cream wont work? Will I fight with this warts rest of my life?
Also whilst been there I had checked hiv and urine test both negative.
Please help if any other ways to get rid of these warts . I missed having see lol.

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:01 am

Okay so the first thing you need to stop doing is worrying about your condition as that will only make it worse. I know it sounds easier than it actually is, but I promise you that a calm mind is the first step to reducing symptoms.

Next I suggest trying out a natural product called Wartamine, which has no side effects. If you haven’t noticed any results after using Aldara up until this point, it’s obvious a new approach needs to be taken.

Finally let me leave you with this. Although there is no complete cure for genital warts, it is possible to live a normal life free of symptoms. Treatment is very good nowadays and with the right mindset, you can make this a reality for yourself.

John July 13, 2013 at 12:52 am

Hi I have a couple bumps that kinda look like warts in my pubic region, they do not hurt or itch, I am wondering because I have been in between homes right now maybe it’s just poor sanitation? I shower often but have issues with getting clean clothes

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:02 am

If you haven’t had sex lately then it’s unlikely you have a STD. Your assumption is more likely. Try taking a salt bath every day for a week to see if that helps to clear up the infection.

christina July 13, 2013 at 12:40 pm

hi i dont know if im just freaking my self out over nothing or if i have a real issue. i have small bumbs scattered around the outside parts of my vagina on the skin areas they dont hurt or anything but if touched or messed with start to ich and become Red, is this normal pimple type stuff that is no reason to worry or is this serious? plz help

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:05 am

If you haven’t had sex lately then you probably don’t have an STD. I say this to most people – try taking a salt bath every day for a week to see if it helps with the infection. Also be sure to keep that area as dry as possible throughout the day. Most infections happen in areas of high moisture. Keep it dry down there and see if it clears itself up. If after 2 weeks it doesn’t, go get the test done.

Rich July 13, 2013 at 11:44 pm

Okay so I have a white bump on the base of my penis just above the scrotum for a few weeks now. It doesn’t itch or burn or anything. It doesn’t look like cauliflower. It’s just sort of there. I’m nervous to what it might be. And recently I have had smaller red bumps appear on my scrotum and the top of ky shaft. and they also are sort of there. They don’t burn or itch. Any ideas? I’m a little freaked.

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:06 am

Usually when you see a cauliflower shaped bump, it means warts. I don’t want to stress you out though, so please do yourself a favor and get a genital warts test done to confirm what the condition is.

Nate July 16, 2013 at 8:23 pm

Can GW have a hair growing out of it?

SK July 17, 2013 at 1:43 am

Hi I’ve recently noticed just one wart/ulcer on the side of my vagina. Painful to touch but I don’t know what it is? I had unprotected sex whist on the pill with 2 diff ppl.

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:11 am

By that description it sounds like genital warts. You can usually tell by the shape. If it looks like cauliflower, then the chances are high of it being genital warts.

Get the test done to confirm what the issue is and if it is warts, then we can start talking about treatment.

Sherry July 18, 2013 at 7:09 pm

I’ve noticed skin colored, a little white at the tip, separated tags that are soooo small. They form an almost symmetrical line on both sides of my inner labia (vulva). I went to the gyno and she said they were normal skin tags and too tiny to even remove. Should I move on and trust I’m okay? They become irritated after sex with condoms. I always used condoms.

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:13 am

It totally depends on how long you have had this issue? If it’s been a while, you might want to consider treatment. If it’s a regular skin infection, try having a salt bath every day for a week to see if it makes a difference.

Otherwise, have a test done to confirm it’s not genital warts.

Cheryl July 23, 2013 at 2:01 pm

Hi I was diagnosed with HR HPV a couple of years ago. The past year or so I have been getting a dark area on the inside of my upper thighs. It’s not raised or have bumps. Doesn’t hurt or itch. Sometimes it looks a little red. It seems when I am eating well and exercising it gets lighter. I was wondering if this could be a mild form of genital warts. Again it is not raised or have bumps. It’s about the size of half a hand on either side of my upper thighs.

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:19 am

I’m assuming you haven’t had genital warts yet? Symptoms don’t usually occur the way you mentioned. That sounds more like an issue related to poor blood circulation.

Matt July 23, 2013 at 7:08 pm

Please I beg you for help!
I’m 16 and a virgin,
I had a 1 month trip and finally,
came back home so what happened is I masturbated pretty hard,2 times in a row with no break and after the session,
the left side was itchy and something fleshy appeared on the left low side of my foreskin!!
It does not look like the genital wart of the picture you’ve shown,
it’s the same color of the rest of the foreskin (brown and not pink or grey),could it be that I gripped my penis too hard and made the skin overlap?
Or you can actually get genital warts from masturbating,
like who knows maybe my hands weren’t that clean (though they looked fine…)
Again please help I’m scared to turn for a helping hand from my surroundings,
too embarrassed.
I’ll be indebted,
You’re God sent just get me out of this mess!

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:22 am

Hey Matt,

You have a better chance of going into space then you do of getting genital warts from masturbating. It’s probably just a skin tag due to your masturbation. I suggest you work on removing that habit. Keep that area, clean and dry over the next few days and it should heal itself.

chris July 24, 2013 at 10:24 pm

i was recently diagnosed with gw s few days ago and was given condyline dolution were i spply it twice a day for 3 days then leave for 4 dsys snd repeat the cycle. my warts have turned white and seem to have hardend. Does this mesn its workin. My warts are under my forskin.

admin July 25, 2013 at 9:23 am

Yes it does. Turning white is usually a sign the treatment is working. They will further being to scab and eventually (hopefully) start to fall off.

hill July 25, 2013 at 7:17 pm

hi im 17years old and have been with my bf for 3years now and om sexual active tho im on holiday and have jusy disvovered these red lumps down below and im not sure what i it is but its looks very like gentil warts and im very unsure how ive got them if ive only been with the one person please help!

admin August 7, 2013 at 7:14 am

If they match the usual cauliflower description then you may have genital warts. Otherwise there still is a chance of the red lumps being something less serious like ingrown hairs.

If you know for sure your boyfriend has remained faithful to you, then it’s unlikely you would have contracted a STD. I recommend you see your doctor just in case.

amanda July 26, 2013 at 2:27 am

i have noticed about 2 or 3 small growths near the opening of my vagina. they are flesh colored, soft, dont hurt to the touch and never bother me. i first noticed them a little over a year ago but never thought anything of them because right after i noticed them i got tested for stds and everything came back negative. well now i have a pretty serious boyfriend and wew have been dating for a year and have had unprotected sex multiple times. he doesnt have anything on his penis that i can see or feel but im worried that later on in life he might show them which scares me because i dont want to lose him. i ahve looked up every possible thing they could be and the only thing that resembled them were squamous papillomatosis. but instead of ahving a bunch all clumped together i have about 2 or 3 single ones. i looked up genital warts and they look nothing like that. my doctors have never said anything about them so i never thought to bring it up but lately its been bothering me that he could get them any day. and i also know that he has a strong immune system and idk if that could mean anything with why he isnt showing signs of them. and yes i have had previous partners before him. im also wondering that if they are genital warts will they ever go away?

admin August 7, 2013 at 7:17 am

It could just be a normal skin tag. They’re quite common and if you haven’t had unprotected sex with any strangers lately, it’s unlikely you have contracted a STD.

If they are genital warts, there is treatment to help reduce their appearance, but the HPV virus will always remain in your system.

Kaleigh July 26, 2013 at 3:17 am

Hi, I’m 16 and I’m not, nor have been sexually active. And I’ve also only ever made out with one person too. However I have noticed downstairs what seems to be described as genital warts. Which terrifies me because I don’t know if that is what they are or if they’re completely harmless. They also seem to go away in one to two days and I rarely get them. I know I shouldn’t be AS scared as I am but I’m just wondering if I should see someone or if it is likely that they even are genital warts? Also (just a random thought) if someone has a cold sore and they kiss you, can you get genital warts even if you’ve never had a cold sore? I’ve confused myself.

admin August 7, 2013 at 7:18 am

If you haven’t had sex, your chances or contracting a STD is slim to none. And no you cannot contract genital warts or genital herpes from someone kissing you who has a coldsore.

Raymond July 28, 2013 at 7:55 pm

Hi I’m not sure if I actually have a GW. I’ll try to describe it the best I could. I’m sexually active, I’ve noticed a bump(kinda looking like one small cauliflower) it was grey. I picked at it and clear fluid came out. Two days later it started to scab, and eventually it has a hair sprouting from it. I have stopped all sexual contact for about a month(it’s when I first noticed it) and now it’s just a dark grey skin tissue with a hair out of it. Does this match the description of GW? Thank you for your time doc.

admin August 7, 2013 at 7:21 am

The good news is that it is not possible for hair to grow out of genital warts. What’s more likely is that you have experienced an ingrown hair, which burst and then regrew a hair over the remaining scar tissue.

chris July 29, 2013 at 8:57 pm

thanks fir ur eariler advice the did fall off but my penis seems to be burning sensatio. aroundcwere the warts were. retractin my foreskin is sore just no due to this. is this normal. healing process.

chris July 29, 2013 at 10:47 pm

also its red blochy like an open spot also feels like its leaking like firedkin bring moidt.

Wayne August 6, 2013 at 9:30 am

I discovered two thick bumps I suspect them to be warts. thiugh I dont feel pains. what should I do?

admin August 7, 2013 at 7:22 am

Go see your doctor to confirm that you do in fact have genital warts. From there if the test is positive, you will need to start treatment. It is possible with regular treatment to live a normal life.

Nick August 8, 2013 at 8:50 pm

Hey I have white bumps that are really small no discharge or pain not itchy is it warts

admin August 14, 2013 at 7:01 am

Genital warts are normally easy to determine by their cauliflower shape. From that description, it sounds more like protruding hair follicles or just plain old pimples which are also normal.

Cassidy August 9, 2013 at 2:15 am

I have a flat, flesh colored bump on the outer labia. I shaved the other day, but didn’t notice it while shaving, but when I used the restroom later. Could it be?

admin August 14, 2013 at 7:04 am

Have you had unprotected sex lately with a new partner? If so then there is a chance of genital warts, however it’s unlikely by that description. You can usually tell by the shape of the warts themselves looking similar to a cauliflower.

If you notice it stays for more than 2 weeks, I recommend seeing your doctor about it.

Jeremy August 9, 2013 at 5:15 am

Hi, I Have many bumps on my penis. They dont hurt at all, But I also have a dark line on the bottom of my penis, it is alot darker then the color of my penis. Do you know what this is? I want to go to my doctor but I am scared to see what he say. Please help me.

admin August 14, 2013 at 6:59 am

The good news is the line you’re seeing is perfectly normal. It’s called the penile raphe and the coloration is normal as well. If you haven’t had unprotected sex recently then it’s unlikely you have an STD. What’s more likely are either bumps caused by hair follicles or simply just plain old pimples.

If they’re not hurting or irritable, then you probably don’t have an STD.

Ben August 18, 2013 at 12:57 am

About 3 weeks ago I discovered what appears to be a small flesh coloured mole on the head of my penis. it does not hurt to touch, and Its not reduced in size or anything. Its not from sexual contact (that I’m aware of) so I’m confused. Any help? Thanks.

admin August 19, 2013 at 7:55 am

Okay by that description, it sounds more like Molluscum Contagiosum which are small flesh colored bumps that are normally harmless. Genital warts have a very specific shape almost cauliflower-like. So if that doesn’t sound like your issue, then chances are you don’t have GW’s.

I recommend you confirm with your doctor what the issue is just in case.

Smooth August 19, 2013 at 5:38 am

I have this bump under the head on my dick idk if its bad but i think another one just showed up and idk what to do

admin August 19, 2013 at 7:52 am

Genital warts have a very specific shape that looks similar to a cauliflower. If you have had unprotected sex recently with a stranger, then it is possible that you may have contracted an STD.

But by that description, I can’t tell what your issue is exactly, so you will need to consult with your doctor.

jason August 30, 2013 at 4:02 am

I have many small white bumps on my penis and they are starting to pop out of the skin with a skin color and on themiddle of my penis a bunch of them grew in one area and it looks like coral reef or colaflowermaybe.. what is this

admin August 30, 2013 at 4:44 am

I’m not going to lie, your description makes it sound like you have genital warts. Typically most clusters tend to take on a cauliflower shape. Before you start treatment, I recommend you get the test done to confirm the results. After that, you can then focus on reducing symptoms.

jason August 31, 2013 at 12:38 am

I dont have medicaid or anything or even a family doctor what can i do? I barelyake any money

admin August 31, 2013 at 12:53 pm

Have you tried taking a look at something like Wartamine? You don’t need a prescription and it’s something that may be able to help you get the issue under control and keep it that way. It might be worth a shot, otherwise any doctor is going to advice you to use prescription creams, which do cost more. They’ll be more effective yes, but if that’s not an option for you right now, maybe Wartamine might be better.

matt September 1, 2013 at 9:46 am

I’ve had a problem a couple times where me and my girl have sex, and I get itchy during sex when I finish here are little red dots on my shaft when we go to shower off after sex they swell up into very large bumps. Can you tell me what they are?? Or what I should do??

admin September 2, 2013 at 7:41 am

It sounds like possible friction bumps which are common after intercourse. Have you tried using lubricant to see if that resolves the issue. Genital warts have a very specific look to them and by your description you probably have not been infected.

Savvy September 2, 2013 at 10:43 pm

Ok my name is Savvy I’m 15 yrs old I did sexual things un protected twice but the guys penis nvr actually went in vagina. I masturbate constantly about 3-4 times a day. But anyways before I did the sexual things I would develop these strange bumps usually they would form when/ while I was shaving. When I don’t shave I don’t get them but when I shave I get them I’m not sure if this is some kind of std or warts but when I looked it up on the Internet my bumps don’t look like gentital warts or herpes they look like normal pimples I get them on the outside and inside of my vagina can someone help me or give an idea of what they might be P.S I recently had surgery on my appendix I’m not sure if that could have something to do with it

admin September 3, 2013 at 11:05 am

By that description it’s unlikely to be STD related. What’s more likely are simple ingrown hairs or pustules which are common after shaving in that region.

jessica September 3, 2013 at 10:43 am

I need advise,
Recently, i’ve noticed two very small bumps near my vagina more toward my anus and the vagina hole, (in between), while washing. A few days later, I had felt another one. It doen’t itch at all and this has never happened before. It’s all new to me. I’m so afraid that it may be something serious. Do these normally have to itch to be something serious? Please I hope that it isn’t anything serious, I’m inlove with my boyfriend and I would hate for him to catch something from me because of the guys I used to sleep with. I havent been sleeping with him. I NEED HELP!

admin September 3, 2013 at 11:08 am

If you haven’t had sex recently then you don’t need to worry too much. If however you have and the description of your bumps match that of the cauliflower shape normally seen with genital warts, then you may want to consider having a test done. If the results are positive for an STD, then you can start the treatment process. It’s important right now to stay calm as the issue could be related to a number of different possibilities, most of them unrelated to sexually transmitted diseases.

Hello, so 2 weeks ago I trimmed my pubes. I noticed the next day that I had
A bunch of tiny bright red bumps on my upper pubic area. I have had unprotected sex
About 6 to months ago and never seen anything like this. Any ideas? They are not in clusters except 3 that are very close together. do not itch or hurt. Once again they are very small bumps and they are bright red.

admin September 6, 2013 at 8:27 am

Okay so firstly by that description is doesn’t sound like genital warts. Instead you’re looking at either basic pimples, ingrown hair or more seriously genital herpes. If you’re worried about it being the latter, I recommend you have a test done to ensure you are free of any STD’s. If it’s the former, it’s literally just a process of time and keeping the area clean. Try running a salt bath for yourself for a week and see if that clears up the condition.

Anonymous 111 September 5, 2013 at 8:32 am

Also I would like to add that they pop exactly like zits with a white head and they bleed a lot for how tiny they are

admin September 6, 2013 at 8:28 am

Again it doesn’t sound anything like genital warts. If it’s an STD, it’s more likely to be something like genital herpes which you should get yourself tested for.

Look guys I know it is scary as hell to feel something foreign down stairs but in actuality there are worse types of stds out there. I contacted hpv on a stupid drunken night. I regret my actions but I now have to deal with the consequences. I tried aldera which DID NOT work for me at all then my gyno prescribed Condylox which was SUPER effective! You use it for three days twice a day then take four days off! I have not had any warts for about two years. I did three things in particular that helped me immensely. 1. Talk to someone you can trust your mother, your sister, your best friend, your partner. 2. Have that person help you apply the medication… Because it burns like hell on normal skin. 3. Wash and dry genitals daily. (I used a blow dryer to ensure it was thoroughly dried. Warts don’t mean your life is over! Everything will be fine. I refrained from sex until I was sure everything was gone. I didn’t want to risk spreading this disease. I wish you all the best and remember it isn’t the end of the world… There is hope! God Bless

Such great words man. I know everyone reading this will appreciate hearing your story. :-)

aj September 8, 2013 at 10:22 pm

I have a pimple looking thing but it’s kinda big & kinda hurts so idk if it’s a pimple or a genital wart but it doesn’t itch it just hurts & it seems like if I squeeze it it’ll pop should I wait & go to the doctor?

admin September 9, 2013 at 7:49 am

Sounds more like an ingrown hair. Still it is an infection that could get outta control if you let it. Try taking a daily salt bath for the next 3-4 days and see if it brings down the infection. If not, then go and see your doctor.

Megan September 9, 2013 at 8:21 pm

I just started dating this guy. And when he got out of the shower I noticed Two small fluffy bumps At the shaft of his penis where it meets his pubic hair Groin area. I asked him about those bumps and he says that he got his penis caught in a zipper when he was 15 Now he’s 25. The bumps are the same color as his penis. Do I have anything to worry about or is he telling the truth? And can You catch your penis and a zipper and it bubble up like that?

admin September 17, 2013 at 10:24 am

Are they cauliflower shaped? If so then they may potentially be genital warts. I would tell him that you won’t have sex with him unless he has a test done. That was the both of you can move on.

Amy September 11, 2013 at 5:33 pm

Recently I have noticed just red flat spots on my bum cheeks which I thought was strange however I just ignored it for a couple of days as I thought if could be down to new washing power, however my anus started to itch a couple of days later, which I then noticed a few hard skin coloured lumps which I can describe as 3D around my anus. I presume they are GW, I have an appointment on Tuesday to check. But what treatment will I get? Will cream make them go away? If so how long will it take?

admin September 17, 2013 at 10:26 am

Your doctor will inform you of the best treatment for your problem. The good news is most products tend to reduce symptoms fairly quickly so they should come down shortly after starting treatment.

taylor September 13, 2013 at 9:54 pm

hi ,
about a mouth ago i gave someone oral sex and then we had vaginal intercourse after…..yesterday 2 lumps appeared in my mouth one is in my inner lower lip more towards the corner and is flat… the other is my inner top lip but looks like a pimple and ive been able to pop it …. i also feel as if i have something stuck in the back of my throat when i swallow…. i have had no lumps or any change at all to my vagina….im terrified i have genital warts in my mouth …. is it possible to get them in your mouth but not vagina? HELP PLEASE!!!!

admin September 17, 2013 at 10:27 am

The good news is you can’t contract genital warts in your mouth. What you should do however is go see your doctor to confirm what the issue is as it may be related to something more serious.

Jessica September 18, 2013 at 7:59 am

I’ve noticed 2-3 pinkish pumps around the skin of my vagina. I’m worried it may be warts, however, there is a hair growing out of them. Could it be an ingrown hair? Can a strand of hair grow out of genital warts? I have a doctors appointment Friday. Do you have any ideas. They are pink and are small soft bump.

admin September 18, 2013 at 9:11 am

The good news is, it’s probably not genital warts. When you see hair growing out of any kind of bump on your skin, you’ll know it’s not wart related as that’s not possible.

What’s more likely is what you mentioned – ingrown hairs. Try taking a salt bath once a day for a week and see if that clears up the infection.

julie September 18, 2013 at 10:22 am

ok so i had sex with this guy once… he told me he doesnt have any std and we had unprotected sex 3 months ago… i dnt know if ma vagina is brusied or if it genital warts… i freaking out because i dont know what to do nor what it could b… plz i need answers :””(

admin September 18, 2013 at 11:55 am

It’s hard to tell what your issue is based off that description you sent through. If you’re extremely worried, then your best option would be to go see your doctor.

MC September 20, 2013 at 10:22 pm

Alright so a few weeks ago I noticed a small, red-pimple like bump on the shaft of my penis. I did have unprotected sex back in June with someone I believed to be clean (she was allergic to latex and gets tested every 3 months and pap smears done every 6). I went to a doctor and she told it me it was a heat pimple, and nothing to be worried about. This was relieving, but it was short lived. I noticed another small, red pimple like bump on the underside of the tip of my penis, right below the opening of the urethra. So I went back to the doctor, and she said once again, it was nothing to be worried about. But I wanted a third opinion, so I went to another doctor, and he told me it was a genital wart and zapped it off and sent me on my merry way. I have contacted the only two girls I have slept with this year, and one has already gotten back to me saying the doctors found nothing.

Note, there are three (one started today) but they do not appear cauliflower in shape or in texture at all, which has left me very confused. What’s more confusing, is why two doctors would say it isn’t, then one said it was a GW. Could you shed any light on this? It’d be greatly appreciated.

admin September 22, 2013 at 8:25 am

Initially based off your description, it doesn’t sound like typical genital wart symptoms.

Have you considered having a test done to confirm whether or not you actually have genital warts? That way you’ll know for sure.

skiler September 21, 2013 at 11:41 pm

Ok, i had a gut feeling that my boyfriend of 5 yrs had been fooling around on me about a month or so ago. I’ve had the HPV shots before him and I first got together, any way two weeks ago I thought I was getting a yeast infection after having intercourse w/ him I kept itching but the itching was around my rant area and right above my pubic bone where my bikini area is. I thought it may have been razor rash an now there is a mole or wart. What is the gestation period for genital warts after coming in contact with the STD? And is there a way to tell when you come in contact with the virus? What else should I be on the lookout for? This has really taken a toll on me not only mentally but physically!

admin September 22, 2013 at 8:51 am

Symptoms of genital warts normally start to appear in less than 3 months. They usually have a very distinctive appearance, almost cauliflower like. The most important thing to remember is that people mistake this disease for other more common, less severe conditions such as heat rash, ingrown hairs and pimples.

What I recommend you do is go see your doctor and have him confirm what the issue is. There’s no point in sitting around wondering when you could find out what the issue is right away.

peter September 24, 2013 at 2:01 pm

So I had sex with a girl I knew very well about 2 weeks ago. She had sex with only one other guy in her life. I didn’t use a condom. However, in the past few days, I noticed a very very mild itching in the bush area, and I noticed some bumps. So I shaved it all down completely a few days ago to see what they looked like better and to help keep the area healthy. There are a bunch in the bush area, but none on my penis or scrotum or anywhere else whatsoever. They are light pink unless I scratch or irritate them and are not big at all. They looks like razor bumps mostly. None of the skin is drying or cracking.
Any ideas? Thanks!

admin September 27, 2013 at 8:04 am

By that description, it’s unlikely to be genital warts, however it sounds more similar to symptoms of genital herpes.

Of course it could be nothing serious, maybe just ingrown hairs. Genital herpes tend to hold a white puss-like substance so if you can see that, I recommend you go see your doctor.

Otherwise try taking a salt bath daily for a week or so and see if that clears up the infection.

Vanessa October 6, 2013 at 1:00 pm

Hi, I’m really freaking out. Ok a 19 year old female, I’ve been seeing this guy the past couple of months and time we’ve engaged in sexual intercourse it’s always been safe. However the lady time I went to visit him I didn’t have vaginal sex with him, instead a you was used, I was watching too much but I know he also added a gel. I made sure to clean my vaginal area with water afterwards because there was so much gel and I didn’t like the feeling, when I went home of probably say 2 days after I noticed I was itching a lot, and sometimes when did scratch it would seriously hurt, I think the next day I decided to use a mirror to check on this and noticed this small ting white bumps that ha framed around my vagina hole, I’ve been so sacred. I stuck my finger in my hole and small white stuff would come out, along with like a Kelly looking discharge, at first I thought I had an allergic reaction to something has I’ve got these rashes only arms that came up way before I had sex. Anyway I checked te next day the white bumps have spred, there’s more and it also on the libia. It smells quite a bit like onions which I’ve been eating a lot. Anyway I let my in check and she diagonised it as thrush, I googled thrush and started to believe it may be that however gentian warts also pops up a lot and I feel that my symptoms mostly reflect that of gential warts. By the way I also noticed I could pop these white pimples which hurt a bit, I checked this morning and there’s even more, I really don’t want gential warts.

admin October 14, 2013 at 7:23 am

Okay so firstly your symptoms don’t sound like genital warts as they normally appear in a cauliflower-like shape and not as small white bumps.

You may just have a more basic infection like ingrown hairs or plain old pimples which are also common. The only other serious alternative could be genital herpes so you may want to think about getting another checkup.

Greg October 11, 2013 at 1:53 pm

What’s the likelihood of a male contracting genital warts on his penis from a female performing oral sex on him?

admin October 14, 2013 at 7:04 am

Extremely low. Genital warts only exist around the genitalia and therefore can only be contracted from direct contact in that area.

E October 14, 2013 at 6:59 pm

A few weeks ago I found some really small painless, colourless, itch free lumps around the anus. I only noticed them when i was cleaning and initially thought it was because i was allergic to my pads, so i took a photo and went straight to the doctor.
my photo made them look very large so my doctor diagnosed me with herpes, but i had no symptoms of this. so i went to the gum clinic and she said its definately not herpes, but could be warts so she gave me some cream. I didnt use the cream and just applied some sudocream, the lumps went down. I went back to my doctor for a third opinion and he said it could be warts, but they were so small, just to keep an eye on them. Ive not notied a couple appear around my vagina too, but again without looking, i wouldnt know they were there. Ive tried popping them and a lump of skin comes out, then they go away. Ive always been very careful, and had been with my prtner for over a year when i noticed them. he doesnt have anything there. ive looked at photos on the internet and cant find anyhting that looks like them.
What sort of tests could i get done? or even do myself??
thank you

admin October 16, 2013 at 6:39 am

Your symptoms originally had me leaning towards genital warts, but I’m not so sure as normally you won’t find any excretion come out of them. There is currently no approved test for genital warts in men or women. Instead the only test available is a pap screen that can detect lesions in the cervix that could result in cancer.

I don’t want to worry you though, as normally the types of HPV that lead to genital warts don’t result in cervical cancer. One thing you could try is applying some vinegar to the region and see if it causes them to whiten slightly. That’s usually the best indicator of genital warts.

ken October 17, 2013 at 12:41 pm

3 months ago, since the little bumps appear to my penis, It’s around 15 pcs then I surf to the internet and I thought it was only Folliculitis, because I shave regularly. and I wear underwear, boxer short and jeans that is slightly tight, It can be a factors? Then I treated by topical Neomycin antibiotic, but since then nothings happened until now, It is painless and nor itch and same also in number.. What home remedy can i do to know if it is Genital warts? Thanks a lot!

admin October 17, 2013 at 4:33 pm

By that description it doesn’t sound like genital warts. It could potentially be genital herpes however, which you can get tested with a PCR blood test. There are currently no tests that can confirm genital warts at this stage. However if you still want to try and make a determination, you can try rubbing some vinegar on the affected area and see if the bumps turn a white color.

I also recommend you see a doctor if you haven’t already.

r October 18, 2013 at 9:35 am

I have a itchy in the lips of vagina &I saw I have bumps n there are so itchy n I can’t stand them. I saw that my skin was peeling a little after I had my baby. N now I had sex with my bf n it got more itchy n he got bumps on one side of this thing but it went away mine have not. N when I went in labor I had a yeast infection n the gave me pills for it but I had stop taking them. You think you can tell me what it is.

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:18 am

Your description makes it sound like genital herpes, however I don’t want to alarm you because it could be a number of things including pimples or even just ingrown hair follicles. In your situation, I recommend having a test done for genital herpes, just to be sure.

ken October 18, 2013 at 5:22 pm

Thanks! I’ve done rubbing some vinegar, and nothing happened even the color and there’s no pain at all. What do you think?

admin October 19, 2013 at 7:46 am

Hello I’m most sure I’ve got genital warts and I pretty freaked out I plan on going to a specialist soon are genital warts cureable or just treatable?

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:22 am

There’s no complete cure for genital warts, however there are some great treatment methods available that will allow you to live a normal life. Your doctor will normally prescribe you something strong, however you might also want to consider using something natural like Wartamine

Lauren October 22, 2013 at 7:21 am

My boyfriend and I have actually never used a condom. I’ve been sexually active for about 3 months now and I started noticing these bumps on the inside of my vagina. I’m not quite sure how to look down there or what I’m looking for. I’ve never seen any warts on my boyfriend, but if he has warts on his fingers and he’s fingered me could that have caused me to get genital warts? They sometimes get itchy but I’m too embarrassed to go to the doctors. If it’s genital warts, is it serious?

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:24 am

Firstly you can’t get genital warts from regular warts on your boyfriends hands. Secondly your issue doesn’t sound like genital warts, but instead potential friction bumps, ingrown hairs or if it is an STD, it could be genital herpes. You might want to visit your doctor to confirm what the issue is.

Italy October 22, 2013 at 8:11 am

Hi, im very worried thats why im reaching out, i was in a bad accident a few months ago broke my back and almost died twice now im recovering about a month an a half ago I noticed a dry spot of skin rite below the head on the top side of my penis i thought maybe i scratched it or it happened during intercourse but thats all it is just a tiny patch of dry skin that flakes off but comes back than a few days ago i noticed a smooth skin colored bump at the base of my penis i popped it thinkin it was a pimple and it bled a little, and theres a few around my thight maybe 2 they dont bother me any, im also on a few meds rite now (oxycontin and dilaudid) i was on 4 months of an antibiotic called rosephrin) that irritate my skin as well i believed it cuased me to have tineaversacolor kind of temporary eczema havent had it since about 12 yrs old im now in mid 20s having sensitive skin since i was a kid, im really worried it may be genital warts but from wat im reading im not completely sure cuz i havent seen any itchy or cauliflower like spots, in thinking maybe the bumps came because a couple days went with out taking a shower because of my back maybe they are sweat bumps? Any help you can provide wud be greatly appreciated because its been a very hard last 5 months and im pretty nervous, i see a dermatologist this week? Thank you

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:26 am

If they don’t appear in a cauliflower like shape, that means they’re normally not genital warts. Depending on your level of hygiene, there is the possibility of either a fungal infection or ingrown hairs which are also common.

Have you asked your doctor to take a look?

Italy October 23, 2013 at 3:51 am

I tried vinegar today and no results

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:28 am

That’s a good sign. If you didn’t see a reaction, it’s unlikely to be genital warts.

Liz October 25, 2013 at 8:22 pm

Hello I have been having a bit of discharge from my vagina. But lately I have been having trouble going to use number 2. I have pain when I urinate and pressure like cramps. We’ll last night my husband put his finger in my butt hole. He told me he felt bumps inside. I have been looking it up and I’m worried if it’s STDs. I have been with him for 8 yrs he has been my only sexual partner, but I can’t say the same for him. Can someone pls. Help me.

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:29 am

Your problem sounds fairly serious so please do yourself a favor and go see a doctor to find out exactly what the problem is.

Daniel October 29, 2013 at 3:11 am

Hello Im really worried!!! And i am not eating or sleeping at all 2 months ago i went back to a girls apartment. We slept in the same bed… At one point i tried it on with her but she wouldnt have sex with me… My penis was touching the outside of her shorts she was wearing as i was on top of her. She later told me she had Genital Warts and thats why we couldnt do anything sexual. Now i have a tiny yet pertruding skin colour lump where the crease is from my penis/body…well the top right scrotum Sometimes it looks barely noticable Iv been to the doctors but she said i didnt have warts..

I have been to the GUM clinic (after i had messed with a needle) and they said it wasnt a wart or couldn’t have been… I then got extremely paranoid one night and ended up cutting my skin with scissors (3 weeks ago)… I have since been to 2 more GUM appointments where they told me they cant see anything wrong, but i fear this is because i have taken away the “evidence” along with cutting anything else i was worried about. Every day for 5 weeks iv been worried and keep checking myself constantly!!! I have been prescribed anti anxiety medication (fluoxetine) although i refuse to take this because it makes you feel worse for the first 5-6 weeks and also cannot drink alcohol so i will look suspicious when out socially.

My Dad is being really supportive but its breaking his heart to see me crumbling like this, he keeps reminding me how many specialists have told me that im ok! The girl i am in love with is now my girlfriend and have finally found happiness and want to make this girl my life, it would kill me to hurt her or put her through this. She is a virgin.

The doctor still feels the problem is in my head and put me on Diazapam (2mg Valium) for my anxiety… Im even scared to go to the toilet or have a shower because i will keep looking!!
I still cant get things out my mind and its driving me to the point if i lose this girl because of this i wont be here much longer.

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:33 am

I’m sorry but I have to agree with your father and the doctors you have been seeing. It’s EXTREMELY unlikely to contract genital warts through clothing like how you suggested. Feel confident in knowing that you won’t pass anything onto the girl of your dreams :-)

Brittany October 29, 2013 at 5:55 am

Hi, my name is Brittany and it’s been about two months since I’ve been sexually active. I recently discovered a small bump around my vaginal area and it looks like a skin tag, honestly, and that’s the only one like it. I also shave down there frequently and I get red bumps there all the time. I am scared to death to go to the doctor and I’ve researched genital warts on the internet and I’m freaking out. It doesn’t look like genital warts and they don’t even itch. Opinions?

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:34 am

If it doesn’t look like genital warts and it’s not painful or itchy, normally that means you don’t have genital warts. Perhaps it’s just a more severe infection caused by ingrown hairs.

Addi October 29, 2013 at 6:26 am

I just found out that I have HPV causing genital warts. I have only ever been with my husband but he has had previous sexual partners so I know I got it from him. I have a few questions… Can we have sex while I am still having an outbreak of warts (they are very minimal)? Can we have oral sex at all without passing the warts to each others mouths?
Thank you!!

admin October 29, 2013 at 7:36 am

Firstly it’s extremely rare to get genital warts from mouth to genital contact, however I would just discontinue that activity until your symptoms are more reduced. If your husband already has genital warts, you no longer run the risk of passing the condition to him now that he already suffers from the same thing.

Addi October 29, 2013 at 3:49 pm

He doesn’t have any visible warts. I’ve had a cold so my immune system was depressed. Since I got it from him, I know he has it. He’s just not having an outbreak right now. So would having sex now cause him to have an outbreak?
